Step 5 will work for you if:

1) .....set aside an appropriate amount of cash to pay the expense as per the budget plan during the pay period

2) .....pay the expense with your credit account if you can do it without using more than 50% of your available credit

3) .....use the earmarked cash that has been untouched to immediately pay off the credit account bill once it arrives. When you have reached the point where your finances are in order and you are following your budget you will not need to use your credit accounts very often.
