 Visits By Maureen is a blog style
website that was created based on Maureen Smith's love of travel and her
interest in exploring new places. What used to
be strictly a hobby (and expense) for Maureen was turned into a small business that
made many travel expenses into tax deductions and a hobby into part time
income!
Maureen was looking for a way to 1) reduce her tax liability, 2) start a small business that would bring her extra income, and 3) utilize her favorite past time of travel. She followed the ten step guideline for starting a small business found on this site. She applied for and received an EIN from the IRS. Recordkeeping was important and she kept very detailed records of all her business activity; a habit her accountant praised her for! Known for her long, red mane of hair, Maureen decided to make the color red her trademark; that becomes quite apparent when visiting her site. Maureen still maintains her job in customer service for an employer, but she spends her free time exploring new places, having fun, and blogging about her experiences. Her goal is to provide interesting tips and advice to other travelers and drive more traffic to her website. Advertising on her site will generate a part time income. She hopes to soon make enough part time income so she can travel even more!
