BOWMAN'S MONEY COLLEGE - FINANCIAL EDUCATION WITH STRATEGIES TO SAVE MONEY

The Trees Are Singing Songs Of Summer Savings

If you listen closely you can hear the cicada bugs are telling us it is the best time to save money and that it is time to start planning on hunting down the end of season clearance deals and bargains. When I was a kid outside playing ball during the summer evenings I would hear lots of cicada bugs chirping and croaking loudly as the sun started to go down. Usually around July you could hear them gaining strength in their voices, as they hid in the trees, and by August there were many of them all loudly carrying on. You couldn’t see them, but you sure could hear them.

When I asked my mom about the noise, she initially told me that was the sound of “back to school time”. She knew that the summer bug sounds would be getting louder as the end of August rolled around; about the same time school was to start again. For many summers after that I would think of school when listening to the bugs.

Same tune, different words

Today, however, that sound means something different. You see, instead of telling you “school’s coming, school’s coming”, these summer time bugs are now singing “savings are coming, savings are coming”! As the end of summer approaches many retailers start to clean house and make room for fall and school inventory. That means it is the perfect time for you to go shopping for next year. Are you ready to take advantage of the savings?

Shoppers who save the most shop seasonally and buy large quantities of items at a time. They don’t pay regular or inflated prices by shopping impulsively or for convenience. This group sets money aside in a special fund each time they are paid. For example, instead of buying 1 article of clothing each week they will buy 10 articles of summer clothing in August when clothing is reduced by 70% or more. The best savings come from stockpiling products that you purchase for extremely low prices. How do you make that happen?

Perhaps you have bid on something at an online auction? Why not try a real world auction or estate sale, as well? For instance, were you going to buy patio furniture with your tax refund? Look at the live auction listings in the newspaper or online at AuctionZip.com. Nearly every week there are many auctions that sell items in great condition for pennies on the dollar.

If you listen closely you can hear the cicada bugs are telling us it is the best time to save money and that it is time to start planning on hunting down the end of season clearance deals and bargains.Want to cut your household goods and grocery expenses by up to 70%? Combine high value coupons (found online at sits like eBay or here), store sales, and insider guidance. Great deals are not hard to find once you know where to look. When you find them take advantage of the opportunity and stock up!

Save at the end of each season, but then what?

Start planning now for the end of season deals. It is a good time to get deals on clothing, shoes, toys, house wares, planting products and tools, and home furnishings, for example. Go shopping now. Write down the things that make sense to purchase and then be ready to go back at the end of the season with your list and look for the markdowns. Buy the things you need or will need for cents on the dollar, and then start working on your next project: what to do with the savings!
