Are you rich? Most people answer that question with a “no”. However, I am sure you would agree that when you think about it what you consider “rich” it will likely differ from what your neighbor thinks is rich. The fact is that rich is a state of mind. Rich is not a dollar figure. It can’t be because no one can agree on what that dollar figure should be. Is $23 million rich?? You may say to me that if you had $1 million in the bank you would feel rich, but that is your perspective. I recently watched a show on CNBC called "Untold Wealth - The Rise of the Super Rich". They interviewed an entrepreneur who sold her business for $23 million. She stated to the interviewer that she didn’t consider herself rich. In fact, when considering the circles she wanted to travel in, she was at the low end of economic scale. Read my story. During the time I was working at the grocery store I was offered a job selling vacuum cleaners door to door. They told me I would make $300.00 a week. My head was spinning for days thinking about all that money! I thought I was going to be rich! Freedom makes you rich. For the purposes this website and the lessons I provide to my students I define rich as being free from credit debt, without stress from financial situations, and being able to do what you want to do. Rich is not a particular dollar figure, so don’t bother setting dollar figures as goals. Our goals should be creating a financial atmosphere around us that addresses issues before they become problems, that gives us a comfortable and meaningful quality of life, and provides freedom to do the things that are important to us. You will become rich when you save money, manage your money, and make more money by decreasing your tax liability by starting your own small business. So let’s get to work on becoming “rich”! http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/SavingandDebt/Advice/even-millionaires-dont-feel-rich.aspx |
